Candidates for Dentures

Did you know that nearly one-quarter of adults over 65 are missing all of their teeth? Dentures offer a reliable, natural-looking solution for missing teeth, so seamless that you may have spoken to someone with dentures without even realizing it. Wondering if you might be a good candidate for dentures?

To be a strong candidate for this restorative option, you should:

  • Wish to replace several or all of your teeth.
  • Avoid smoking or using tobacco products.
  • Have a healthy jawbone (we’re here to help with that!).
  • Not experience chronic dry mouth.
  • Be committed to good denture care at home.
  • Plan to continue routine dental exams, just like with natural teeth.

How Do I Take Care of My Dentures?

Proper care helps dentures last longer and keeps your mouth healthy. Even with well-fitting prosthetics, regular dental visits allow us to check the fit of your dentures and examine your gums, jaw, and overall oral health.

To care for your dentures at home:

  • Remove them overnight to give your mouth a break.
  • Soak in warm water (with or without denture cleanser); avoid hot water to prevent warping.
  • For dentures with metal clasps, soak in warm water only.
  • Store dentures in water when not in use to prevent drying out.
  • Clean and massage your gums with dentures removed.
  • If brushing irritates your gums, run your toothbrush under warm water or use a damp cloth wrapped around your finger.
  • For partial dentures, brush your natural teeth as usual.

With proper care, dentures can provide a comfortable, reliable smile that lasts.

Cost of Dentures in Belleville

In Belleville, the cost for full or partial dentures typically ranges from $900 to $3,500 or more, depending on individual needs. Full-mouth dentures can cost anywhere from $1,800 to $3,500+, while implant-supported dentures, which provide enhanced stability, average around $30,000.

How is the Cost of Dentures Determined? Several factors impact the cost of dentures:

  • The type of denture you need (full or partial, implant-supported or not)
  • Any necessary dental extractions or other preparations
  • X-rays or imaging that may be required
  • The option for supportive implants to increase stability

Since every case is unique, we encourage you to schedule an oral exam for a tailored treatment plan and accurate quote. Our team is here to discuss all available options to find the best solution for your needs.

to schedule an initial consultation & exam.

Your consultation will include an examination of everything from your teeth, gums and soft tissues to the shape and condition of your bite. Generally, we want to see how your whole mouth looks and functions. Before we plan your treatment we want to know everything about the health and aesthetic of your smile, and, most importantly, what you want to achieve so we can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, dental bridges can close gaps caused by one to three missing teeth, while dental implants can restore any number of missing teeth. While dental implants require a higher initial investment and specific health criteria, they offer a durable, long-term solution.

With proper care, dentures can last between 5 and 10 years. Over time, natural changes in your mouth may require adjustments or a new set for optimal comfort and fit.

While you can sleep with your dentures in, it’s recommended to remove them at night. Soaking them overnight allows you to clean your mouth, gums, and any remaining natural teeth, giving your gums and jaw a chance to rest.

A good fit means top dentures should suction to your gums, while bottom dentures should stay comfortably in place. Partial dentures align with natural teeth, and implant-supported dentures should snap securely into position. If your dentures feel loose or uncomfortable, book an appointment for an evaluation and adjustments.

After adjusting to your dentures, you should be able to enjoy most foods. However, hard or sticky foods, like caramel, raw carrots, or tough meats, as well as foods with small particles like popcorn or seeded crackers, can cause irritation and should be enjoyed occasionally.

My young adult daughter is special needs. We moved to Belleville last June and she had graduated from her previous dental clinic at Holland Bloorview in Toronto a few years ago. Keeping her teeth in good condition is a priority for me but I was unable to get her in to a dentist before we moved. When I was taking her to her new day program I noticed this dental clinic and decided to call and find out if they accepted odsp and the new dental plan, they do!! So we made an appointment in hopes they would be able to manage her sensory issues. Well I have to say they were just fantastic!!! She did wonderful and the entire staff were welcoming tolerant and understanding. I’m just thrilled to death and give the highest recommendation I have!!!

Highly recommended place for dental work; Doctors are very supportive throughout whole process and also the assistant and receptionist were awesome. They arranged next day appointment for me due to higher pain level. It is very clean and bright place. I was very nervous about any kind of Dental procedure but at the end I had the best experience I could have get. Can’t complain about anything.

The staff are kind and genuinely caring at Smiles Dentistry. Dr Sudhir did an excellent job on some long neglected work I needed. He had to rebuild 1/2 of one of my molars and you’d never know there was any composite in that molar. It looks exactly as the real tooth looked. He stayed passed closing to ensure everything was done properly. He is very good at administering the freezing , keeping his patients as comfortable as possible and explained everything he had to do very well. Jennifer was the dental assistant for my previous visit, she was very kind and went out of her way to ensure I was comfortable during exams as I have spinal issues . Today Herschel was the dental assistant, he is very good at his job and I have to say what a warm, caring young man he is! Melissa in reception is just the friendly face and spunky personality that makes people feel welcome. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

To say this place made me feel safe, healthy and at home is an understatement! I am NOT a fan of the dentist, however Dr. Shenoy gave me a freezing needle with such grace and skill I didn’t know I had one!! Yes that’s right, and my tooth individually was frozen not my entire side. The entire staff have treated me as if I have been a long time customer and I just attended my second visit! If you’re looking for a new, clean space with great staff and care this is your spot! Thank you so much, I cannot thank you and your team enough for the confidence I needed back in my smile!
